Homeschooling in December

sjs_ct_wordartI’ve not posted for a while.  That’s because this year, I have decided we are taking the month off. Since we school year round, we are easily able to do this.  Does this mean learning will stop?  Absolutely not!

We will still be reading aloud and independently and we will be working on our daily advent tags.  We will play board games and decorate cards and write letters.  We will bake goodies and sing Christmas Carols.  We will visit the lonely and and try to help those in need.

We are turning our Christmas focus this year to what Christ turned his focus to - We will be serving and loving mankind. We’ve spent this morning working on our Service Tree.

We’ve been busy with service lately and I’m exhausted to tell the truth.  However, things will settle down now for the rest of the month for us.  I’m hoping that we will be able to slow down and enjoy the service we are giving instead of running from thing to thing.  Ok, who am I kidding?  We now have a drywalled house!  The gas is supposed to be hooked up today and the electric meter switched over to the new one.  We are trying to get moved in by Christmas. So things may not slow down…  but we’ll find joy in the journey.  We always do.

I’ll post more details of our advent tags and our service tree later when I have some more time.

Merry Christmas to you all!
