Book Log: Peter and the Secret of Rundoon

peter rundoonPeter and the Secret of Rundoon is the third book in The Starcatchers Series by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson.  It is every bit as exciting and fun as the previous books.  This particular book, was the one that Mason begged me to read both day and night.

This book begins with a few pivotal happenings.

  • Shadows combine and merge with another’s.  Lord Ombra is back and heading for Rundoon.
  • A  scouting party has landed on Mollusk Island. The Scorpions are planning war and they don’t loose.
  • Molly and George discover the identity of the missing person who warned the Starcatchers of the starstuff falls. This man was none other than Peter’s Father.

These major storylines have you deep in adventure, regardless of the scene.  You'll visit the desert, the city of Rundoon, a dungeon in an underwater ship, lava caves on mollusk island, a flying ship, London and even aboard a rocket.

I don’t want to give away any of the exciting moments, as not knowing what happens next, is part of the fun.  Let me just say - If you have read the previous books in this series, you will not want to miss this one!  It is fantastic!

  1. Hello -- question for you: I have a five year old son (who has a very good attention span for listening to a book) and a nine year old daughter (who loves Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, etc...). Would these books be good read alouds for them?

  2. Hi MusicalMary, If you children enjoyed the books you've mentioned they would love it! They are about the same reading level.
